ira glass

for christmas i got katie tickets to see ira glass speak in person at the kimmel center here in philadelphia. we are both huge fans of his and he has kept us company on many long road trips. his love of storytelling is infectious and powerful.

we were trying to figure out which episode of this american life was our favorite. katies is Act V which is about a theater group in a high security prison which is getting ready to perform the last act of Hamlet. its hard for me to pick one favorite but Cat and Mouse is definitely up there, maybe its because it was one of the first episodes i heard. it is a group of stories about people chasing something, from the perfect couch to grafitti artists.

tonight amy stein will be speaking at the university of pennsylvania. i am most definitely going to check it out. i am really mesmerized by her stranded series and hoping she talks a little about it. i havent been to an artist’s lecture in quite sometime. it’s definitely something you miss when you arent in school anymore.
